Balustrade Maintenance Checks to Make This Summer

Regular checks of your balustrade are important throughout the year. This helps preserve the appearance and performance of any stainless steel installation.

However, with longer days and better weather, the summer months provide the perfect opportunity to inspect your balustrade thoroughly.

Key areas to inspect:

• Surface contamination: Keep an eye out for dirt build up, tea staining and water marks.
• High touch areas: Handrails and other frequently used sections are more likely to collect fingerprints, grease and surface marks.
• Scratches and surface damage: Scratches can often be cosmetic. They do, however, affect appearance and can become collection points for dirt.
• Coastal exposure: Installations near the coast need inspection on a more frequent basis, as they are at a larger risk of staining.

Most stainless steel only requires warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth to remove everyday contaminants and maintain its appearance.
