Blériot XI Aircraft Replica
Stainless Steel Wire Rope Rigging for Bespoke Aviation Project
Aircraft enthusiast Tom is creating a replica of the Blériot XI, made famous by Louis Blériot for making the first aircraft fight across the English Channel in 1909.
S3i supplied a range of 2mm and 3mm stainless steel wire rope, eye bolts, turnbuckles, crimps, ferrule crimps, crimping tool and wire cutters for this ambitious project.
Our stainless steel cables are perfectly suited for this replica project, as they must be carefully rigged to maintain the correct length and tension.
Internal bracing was commonly used during the early days of aeronautics when aircraft frames were literally wooden frames, with wire cross-bracing to stiffen and strengthen such airframes.
